One of the most common ways scammers trick people is by sending a message that looks like it came from a real company. It may claim there is a problem with your bank account, Amazon order, delivery, PayPal account, computer, Facebook account, or another service you use.
The safest habit is simple:
If you were not expecting the message, do not click the link.
Instead, open your browser and go to the company’s website yourself, use the official app, or look up the company’s phone number separately. Do not use the phone number or link from the suspicious message.
Be extra careful with messages that:
- say your account will be closed
- claim you owe money
- mention a failed delivery
- ask you to verify information
- ask for a password or code
- create pressure to act right away
Also remember: never give a caller or message sender your password, banking login, or verification code.
Not sure if a message is real? Stop before clicking and ask someone you trust. Ricmer Tech Support can help you look at suspicious messages safely.
